Pacman and Galaga Dimensions Review for the 3DS

Pacman and Galaga Dimensions Review for the 3DS

With how many times I've played Pac-Man and Galaga, I'm almost ready to make it a drinking game. I do not have the details yet, but thought it should be something like "eat a shot for every Ghost", "would challenge each stage must be by the chugging of a beer, before following the next stage" will be. It would take some new life of the franchise was re-releasing Namco Bandai always bring and over again without much adjustment. Six games are here - two new, two old and two appeared on consoles about three years ago. So there must be a "good" drinking game in there somewhere is that leave a person bombed, but still breathing at the end.

The two new games are here, what's all the excitement of a new car. Let's start with ... Galaga 3D Impact. Apart from the actual taking of pictures and opened them balls, it's Raiders face moving around like a madman to 3DS, lock on the enemy of your choice, and shoot it. Surely you have a few different weapons to choose (to be honest, I stopped using the basic blaster), but it's really, really just the same game (with less personality than shooting a face can be seen).

The 3D effect is not terrible, for the tutorial bits cut from the 3D to save completely. You read that right: In a fit of rage, who thought the tutorial, it would be a good idea, the players worked entirely from the 3D effect, words flash on the screen, then right back in. It single-handedly established the most painful effect I've ever experienced on the 3DS. That alone makes me not want to play Galaga 3D Impact ever again, but after I've installed this game in my system ... and it was free.

Then there is tilt Pac-Man, another game in this collection 3DS, which has no 3D at all. And after the game, I can see how the whole thing is stretched half. Each environment looks alike, and each stage feels open and empty, without excitement or intensity. Platforming is slippery and it feels like a Sonic game, complete with a casino zone-ish flippers and bumpers will be, and the tilting mechanic is used in only the most basic ways. Tilt and move in a certain direction and Pac-Man could be a ball (sound familiar?) Curl to move faster, it can rotate certain platforms in the environment a bit, and turn the enemies and few balls on the pitch. The whole package feels undercooked and underdeveloped, and could be used a few gimmicks or enemies or even a change in the music have.

But there are four other games here - Pac-Man, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Galaga, and Galaga Legions - are and they are all exactly what you played before. Each game plays on the top screen and top screen only if you play one of these on a screen, remember the big enough to see, you will probably have problems burdening to see super-small balls and turn on one Cent. All together, pulled it all makes more difficult to play. Pac-Man is slick with the stick fine, but when the speed starts recording, it is simply not precise enough. While you can play with the cross-pad, it is hard because ... You know, with normal sized hands and it is where the base of your thumb would normally.

Oh, and there is one more thing on this car: a promotional video tells the story of how Pac-Man got his start, and this is in 3D. With the slider up, it's hard to say that in 3D at all, but that does not matter ... the "film" is not interesting. It's not even funny. It could be the single most boring Saturday morning cartoon-ish, I have ever seen. So essentially, I started the game, fiddled with the 3D, watched the credits, sighed and realized that I never get back the few minutes of my life.

All these little problems are piling up. It's almost as if everything I hoped for in this press release are below was written to be easily ignored. I would like to see Galaga and Pac-Man stretched to fill both screens in some way (especially so Galaga, Space Invaders Extreme has been filled so well), but there are some options to change anything at all. The presentation is simple, and both the stand-up and sit-down cabinets are raised, to look before the game (although you might say to never be in a situation when the 3D is), but while the little details in looks are nice, they do not meet all the little annoyances.

One thing is done right the online leaderboards, so you can see how well you badly against the rest of the world price. Even then it is only worth taking if you need some portable Pac-Man Championship or Legions ... I suppose everyone has access to the original games at this point.

Well, what version of Pac-Man I want to play next? I have only for the iPhone, Game Boy, DS, 3DS, Neo Geo Pocket Color ...
