Tropical storm teases parched Texas, but fizzles - At the end of Tropical Storm Don was little more than a summer thunderstorm. Some scattered showers were expected to linger collapsed across parts of south Texas, but the area's best hope for significant rain in months approach Friday night, the area was drizzling with less than one inch of rain and strong winds.
Don was a tropical depression as what was left of it came ashore in a sparsely populated area of the ranch lands near Baffin Bay downgraded late Friday evening. The National Hurricane Center's tropical storm warning ended along the coast of Texas, said in a 22.00 clock advice that Don was moving west-northwest on the coast at 14 miles per hour.
