Regulators dig deeper into Google's Admeld deal
Federal regulators seeking more information about the planned purchase Internet search leader Google AdMeld of digital advertising agency.
The proposal, announced late on Wednesday, is the latest sign of intensifying government control over Google, as the company tries to expand its Internet empire.
The U.S. Justice Department reviewing the AdMeld much for the fourth time in the last three years the government has taken a closer look at a Google acquisition to determine whether it would drive up prices or stifle competition. After lengthy inquiries Google won approval of a $ 3200000000 purchase of online advertising service DoubleClick, a $ 681 million acquisition of mobile ad service AdMob and a $ 676 million acquisition of the airline tracker ITA Software.
Google, in Mountain View, California, has not known since AdMeld-sale price of the deal was announced last month.
AdMeld, headquartered in New York, works with sites to help them figure out how to make the most money from the amount of space they have available to do for display ads. Although short advertisements tied to search results still for the largest share of Google's revenue account, the company has blossomed into a major display advertising Moneymaker, as the company bought DoubleClick.
Despite the recent slump, Google still has a smaller share of internet display advertising market as competitors Facebook and Yahoo Inc., according to market research firm eMarketer Inc. Google subordinated in the display advertising market could help to convince the company regulators, there is enough competition to persuade them to approve the deal AdMeld.
Complaints of abuse of its dominance, Google Internet search, in order to control traffic on their own performance and drive online advertising prices prompted antitrust regulators in the U.S. and Europe to extensive investigations of the company to open business practices.
