Dolphins Have Healing Ability

Dolphins Have Healing AbilityDolphins Have Healing Ability - The dolphin is the most intelligent of marine creatures and can be trained to obey human orders. Interestingly, it turns out that aquatic animals often dubbed the best friend this man has the ability to heal itself.
The ability is examined by Michael Zasloff, a researcher from Georgetown University Medical Center. He gathered some documents incidents of serious injuries suffered by dolphins, which may be caused by shark bites. The bite wounds, some even bigger than a basketball, can recover within a week without causing a dolphin in pain or distracted.
"It makes us marvel at the animals that can swim faster than humans and have intelligence that almost convey complex emotions and our social, but able to heal themselves," says Zasloff.
Zasloff has long been interested in drugs derived from nature. For example, he found the antibiotics used by frogs in the skin and also the possibility of cancer therapy with dogfish shark species.
In dolphins, Zasloff discovered even though these animals have a wide wound that he did not bleed to death.
"Dolphins may use their dive mechanism that stops blood flow to parts that are not necessary, including reducing blood circulation to the wound," he explained.
In addition, during the process of wound healing in the dolphin's body showed no symptoms of infection. The scientists found their skin and fat also contains antibacterial compounds that prevent infection.
Another plus is the dolphin show no reaction to pain. Whereas in general an open wound that will affect the behavior and diet of animals for several weeks. In dolphins, they still apply to normal despite severely injured.
"The ability of dolphins to heal itself is magical. Within weeks they could replace the new network perfectly," he added.
He added that the dolphins might get this regeneration ability of stem cells is special as well as several types of amphibians that can sprout arms repeatedly.
Understanding of the regeneration ability of the dolphin is expected to be useful for humans. Moreover, according to Zasloff dolphins in the structure has similarities with humans.
Self healing techniques of marine mammals is thought to be caused by a type of protein or stem cells that may be suitable for use by humans.
"The protein produced by the dolphin during the healing process is produced by the body itself. If it can be used as a drug antinyeri certainly will not cause addictions such as chemical drugs that are currently outstanding," he said.
